Note that the Ministry of Supply placed two contracts: V.4229 was a domestic one, and the overseas order was S/M 2028, the same as for C-GT tractors. Further, when the Portees were rebuilt to 17-pounder tractors the Census Number prefix changed from 'L' as a 3-tonner truck chassis, to 'H' as a 'tractor'. The C-GT chassis retained the 'H' prefix throughout unless anyone knows of any being rebuilt? |
