Max Hedges and Maple Syrup

I stayed over at Max Hedges on the weekend and had a buet breky nocked up by Cathy bacon and eggs, mushrooms and small fried tomatos.
However what happened next was not quite believable Max poured maple syrup on perfectly good bacon and eggs. When questioned about this odd ritually Max informed me that this is how bacon and eggs are served in Canada.

Canadians is this TRUE?

or does Max just have a really mean sweet tooth?

Help needed on this topic, until now I previously considered Canadians similar to Australians only with wooly hats and coats.
