Default How to find interesting old photographs

The pic Mike has posted in this thread just goes to show what can be found in old photo albums. I believe there is a wealth of interesting photographs waiting to be discovered by inquisitive and intrepid souls armed with a scanner or even a good digital camera with macro function and a steady hand.

In this case I didn't have the scanner handy so used my digital camera.

All you have to do is go to a returned servicmen's club (or whatever the local equivalent is near you), ask nicely and a kindly little old gentleman or lady in charge of memorabilia will usually be only too happy to oblige.

The pic here is a good example of the sort of thing you can find, taken in Syria in 1942. Quite the "OH BUGGER!" moment.
