This is for our Canadian readers.....
Just a reminder to wear Red today...Support our troops...
A Canadian flag pin is nice but you should be wearing one of them every day....
The wearing of red clothing of some sort shows that we go a little farther and visibly show that we support our Canadian troops..God Bless 'em..

A wear red story from The London(Ontario) Free Press..
Attend and sign if you can...

Londoners show support for troops through book of condolence

Wed, October 11, 2006

More than 50 people had signed it by noon today

By RANDY RICHMOND, LONDON FREE PRESS REPORTER

Whatever their beliefs about the war in Afghanistan, Londoners are proving they believe in the soldiers fighting there.

By noon today, more than 50 people had already signed a book of condolence in city hall for the family of Londoner Mark Wilson, killed in a roadside bomb Saturday while on duty.

“It is a hard thing,” said Sister Maureen Shearon, admitting she is troubled by the war.

“This is my way to express my condolences to the family and to all the soldiers who died throughout the campaign. The soldiers believe in what they are doing and we have to appreciate that. We must have hope good will come out of this.”

John Duchart took several minutes to compose a message of support.

Why was he there?

“I am Canadian,” Duchart replied. “I just want to pay my respect.”

The war in Afghanistan is necessary, he added.

“These things shouldn’t happen but they do.”

Duchart said his father and grandfather served in the military.

“I sometimes think I should be over there.”

Messages from ordinary London families and politicians, from veterans and children, dot the book.

The book of condolence will remain open for signing from 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. each weekday until Oct. 18. It will later be given to the Wilson family.

Meanwhile, plans continue to build a large show of support for Southwestern Ontario troops Nov. 4.

London Knights seasons ticket holders and other fans are being urged by e-mail, phone and in person to wear red, instead of traditional Knights green to the Saturday game.

“The fans are so excited about it,” said Stefanie Turnbull, marketing director for the Knights.

“We’ve had people calling and calling, asking 'When is it?'”

A videotape of the crowd will be added to one being compiled by the London Military Family Resource Centre to send to local troops at Christmas
