| Making things the wacky way

I just thought I would start a thread on wacky ways we have made parts we needed. I needed this nut for my front armour on my Universal carrier resto. I compared it to ones available but found it was an odd size both in diameter and thickness. Since it was going to be in a high visibility position I figured I would try and make it myself. Using only a pair of vise grips and a bench grinder I managed to grind myself and near copy. I did have to run to the hose a few times and cool things down as even with gloves it got damn hot. After drilling out the center I tapped out the threads and it fit perfectly. Just goes to show what you can do with vise grips and a bench grinder.
