Some 8 weeks after the seller received my payment, my truck arrived today! My sole comment on the transaction is this: It was handled with less than ethical standards by both the seller(s) and the shipping broker. After 15 days sitting in a wrecking yard in Detroit I was able to use a private shipper who one the the nicest hardest working people I have met in a long time!
Although the eBay listing, on which the transaction was based, stated that the motor was in parts and needed to be reassembled, all I received was an engine block (no heads or other parts) and a radiator, both of which are unuseable. Unfortunately being some 2,500 miles from the truck's location I was unable to look it over before buying it. My bad! Got my reward for poaching a Canadian vehicle and having it shipped to Arizona! On the other hand all of the body parts are present and in fairly good order. It's definitely a restorable vehicle. One tire blew out while loading it but gortunately a spare was included in the deal and it looks like it'll do for awhile. While changing the tire it became evident that the king pins are shot as well as the front wheel bearings. Any words of wisdom on how I can replace would be greatly appreciated. Have attached a couple of pictures including one of a number found on the front cross member that includes the front motor mounts, 01T 5020. Lost the thread that covered that so some help on identifying what year it was made would be helpful. Also there was a military symbol on the right front fender. Any help in identifying which unit it belong to would also be appreciated. Enough for now! Regards, Jim |
