Luke, I took a closer look and it's 69-914. Here it is after some Photoshop adjustments.

I added the Chev to my lineup. I have some more trucks in my brothers yard too. When I picked up the Chev the owner told me about where the farm was where he bought it 25 years ago. There were a couple of old bachelors with a lot of junk in that area but they died 15 years ago so I went and looked around the remains of the yard. Lo and behold, I found a 16" military wheel and part of a Chev grille guard. There were several old 216s laying around and one had positive crankcase ventilation. I wrote down the serial number and guess what? It's the original motor out of the C15A so I'll have to go back and get it. It looked like the block was still usable.

I picked up the original motor out of the C15A the other day. The serial numbers match the number on the data plate. The build date on the data plate is April 21, 1944 and the build date on the motor is 10 29 43. That motor plant must have been making lots of engines by this time if they could sit for 6 months before being used. On my HUP there's only around 6 weeks difference or less if I remember right.
