Well done John.
You should be able to get silver solder with a melting temp way lower than Brass.
How are you going to fix the hinges?
Does the extrusion have the hollow section for the joining piece?

Have used the same brass in my 13 cab, obtained from Peter Jackson, he,s up the central coast NSW now . strenthen the corners with brass angle inside on the bottom soldered in, outside on the top screwed to the hinge. Either fit new glass ( $60 a side) or fit wider "t" rubber. took one to corowa this year for K W. to check out. its easy to work with.
