Jordan, the MKII stowage diagram indicates that the white box could be: 1)Anti Gas Suits (or waterproof clothing) OR 2)Powder, Bleach 2lb. Tin OR 3)Waste, Cotton (for bleach powder bundles). Im thinking that this gear is anti-gas material.
In addition the stow diagram lists, in the same bin: Cover, Gun Bren...Flags, Signaling...Sheets, Ground....Haversack, W.E. Patt 37 x4.....Poles 3'0"....Axe, Pick Helve. As far as the mystery bracket/device goes... my guess is that it is a horn, or a hooter as the Brits know it. Any further comments gents? Harris |

Thanks for the info about the contents.
As for that stange bracket I don't believe it can be for a horn. Another picture shows the bracket empty. I wonder if it could be a cleaning "brush" for the 2" Mortar. What ever it was it must have been dropped from production as you don't see it on other Mk2's

Hi Guys,
it looks very much like a muffler for a chore-horse. Cheers, Dave |
