Default What is it...?

What is the white "T" in the lead men's face and the officer's face...?

Are they wearing some kind of disposable cellophane goggles...?

I tried enlarging but can't make it out.....

Default On closer look.....

Could have the pictures been alterated by "censors"........??

....enlargement of the truck shows that both sides of the engine cover unit markings have been white painted and arenot a second set of headlights....

Could they have disfigured the lead men to prevent recognition of the soldiers..?? and if so why just the front two.....

Bob

Have found some information on that aircraft which indicates the date and location of the shot as:

Quote:
A29-180 P-40K-10 42-10227 1/43 served with 77 Sqn and 2 OTU; on 7/2/43 allocated to 77 Sqn from 1 AD; on 13/2/43 starboard wing was damaged by a loose blast tube; on 22/7/43 it was used as a test bed for prototype installation of IFF equipment; on 3/8/43 allocated to SDF from 1 AD; on 6/3/44 its tail wheel was damaged when it retracted after landing while with 15 ARDRP; on 18/9/44 received by 2 OTU; on 18/8/45 received by 1 CRD and from 2 OTU; on 4/6/48 finally destroyed on the Werribee bombing range.
From ADF Serials

From the look of the rear fuselage I'd say this was taken after the tailwheel retracted in March 1944, although the markings are consistent with No2 OTU.

Gents:

This should be the link to the website with the RAAF P-40's.

There are also some nice shots of 414 Sqn RCAF P-40B/Cs in England.

Just noticed this question. Most of the marching men seem to be wearing Eye-Shields, Anti Gas. The first two have them over their eyes and the others raised on their helmets. They seem to have been fairly commonly used early in the war as dust shields.

Sorry no CMPs in this picture but the best illustration that I could find.

It's a cab 13 and if the Arab standing in front of it is full size it must be bigger than a 15 cwt. It has a radio aerial mounted on the passenger side. Can anybody add any more?
