Actually it was because the Ford F8 was manufactured in Ontario. I also have the Canadian flag which was the official flag for Canada from 1922 through 1957 which I will use when displaying the truck in the future. The Ontario plate will not be used then.

Thanks Jim, I never thought of the fact that it was manufactured in Ontario. The Canadian Red Ensign is a good choice for when displaying the truck.

Finally got around to installing the new MRF tires I purchased from Tony at Ag Tyres. I am pleased to advise that they do ride much better than the originals that came with the truck! They are 6 ply nylon and have a firm ride.

They do handle well at low sprreds, 25 mph. Have yet to take them on the road at a higher speed.

Have started the second phase of the restoration of my F8 by beginning construction of the tool boxes. Have taken a different tack by first making a frame of 1 1/2" steel angle iron and strap to form a more sturdy set of boxes. Below are the pictures of the frame.

Bob, my welder, is going over to the metal supplier tomorrow and pick up a 12 guage sheet of steel for the skin and use their hydraulic shear to cut the pieces needed. They're charging us $50 an hour to use the shear......

Have continued to work on the tool box and have most of the skin on the frame. Pictures will follow next week as the remainer will be completed over the weekend.

Finally ordered the second gas tank from Brian Asbury. When the truck arrived last year the second one was missing. He has a nice one which only needs to have the neck moved. Will also seal it. Pictures to follow when it's received.

Obtained a set of drawings for the radio mast and had the parts plasma-cut and then bent to shape with a brake. Pictures of the before and after are below.

Will be glad to have one made up for you. However, because of the expense of setting up the plasma cutter at the metal fabricator I use as well as his and my welder's labor and the materials (10 gauge steel), I'll need to get at least orders for six before I have him make them up. The cost for each will be $125 plus shipping.

Spent Weeks 4, 5 and 6 in Europe so nothing was done. However, this week we finished the final fitting of the tool boxes with their skins on. We also completed the spare tire braces and the tire holding bracket. See the attached pictures.

PS Received the second gas tank in the mail and am off to the gas tank fabricator tomorrow morning for the repositioning of the filler tube. The tank I received had the tube on the edge of the tank instead of the top.
