A quick poll on Saturday Feb 14th 2009 to see how many CMP projects are being worked on today.
With Corowa just over a month away I was working away on the F15 and it occurred to me there must be several other people and projects being worked on at this very time. Below is an incomplete list based on those I could think of quickly who would be doing the same. Please feel free to amend or add to the list, you don't need to be preparing for Corowa. How many of you are working this Saturday (wherever you are in the world)? Please add your name, location, vehicle type and the work you're doing today. First Victoria: Myself, Eltham Ford F15. Fitting horn, windscreens and cleaning/painting lots of other parts. Euan McDonald - Glenburn Ford F60L - fitting front axle to prepare it for sandblasting John Stokes - Seville - Chevrolet 60CWT cut down chassis New South Wales Howard Holgate - Ganmain - Ford F15 cab 12 Tony Elliott - Ganmain - Ford F60L cab 12 Max Hedges - Yass - Chevrolet C30 cab 11 South Australia Bob Moseley/Colin Jones - C60S based halftrack Western Australia Wayne Henderson - New steel floor in Ford FAT no. 9 |

Interesting activity spot check, Feb 9-14 reassembly of the engine for my C60S which broke a valve guide. Got the head back from the machine shop with new guides reassembled the engine and started it on the test stand.
Oh yes I'm a little ways away from Corowa or about as far as you can get. Cheers Phil

Work under way for the Kiwi version of Corowa in Easter this year in my home town of Gisborne NZ:
Chev C8AX GS: just needs a new Warrant of Fitness, and muffler repair Chev C8Ax Ambulance: need to complete repairs due to broken rear half shaft, then fit a new gasket on the exhaust manifold, and clean out the rear brakes, followed by Warrant of Fitness and Road Licence. Chev C8AX Radio Shack: fitting furniture inside rear body, kitting out with NZ made ZC1 radio installation. Won't be on the road in time, but still wishing to show it off. Other jobs are Getting a Certificate of Fitness for the RL Bedford, and we have already got the LP2 MG Carrier ready with work on rekitting the fuel pumps, sorting a stuck valve and general maintenance like track tensioning. All the best with Corowa. I hope to get over there before too long. Rob |

Not working on truck directly today, As last weeks snow has melted for now I took advantage of the rather mundane cool day to catch up with work in the garden and improve ground drainage.
My theory for what it is worth, do the boring jobs while weather is to cold/ wet/foggy did i mention Cold and save the good tasks like working on my truck for the good days. Most recent task was to strip the old door skin of front passenger door. Cut new metal, Fold top edge to include the swage line that is part of the original design [ and panel strength] then after cleaning all the crud that builds up inside the inner door panel off, Prime paint the inside, clean the lock assy and pack it with fresh grease. Finally place the new door skin in place, mark lock access slot in door top, cut out and check fit of lock and filler panel, as i have limited welding skill, carefully removed old captive steel bar that the three bolts hold lock cover panel in place with from old door skin then with two solid steel rivets in place of welds to retain the bar inside the new door skin. Then carefully fold the edges inwards to get outer panel in nice and tight. The task of marking the right place for the hinge holes. chain drill hinge hole carefully, forming the initial slot then using a series of files to remove just enough metal to line up hinge with bolt holes. Again after applying primer [Bonda Primer]. Stopped! Just need some of that elusive sun light. As truck is out of doors in the weather, tasks like painting need Sun. Wish you all a good rally season where ever you are. ![]() The standards of restortion are fantastic as usual. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by S LATHERON (RIP); 25-03-09 at 00:11.
