The jeep thingy appears to me to be a rare bantam or early prototype Jeep!

Default Wireless connection

Both the jeep thing and the artillery tractor are mounted with No.11 wireless sets. Not typical of either. Testing perhaps? Oh, and the ass end of a carrier in front on the FAT. Another 11 set 'just out of view' I suspect.

re: jeep thingy, can we tell or guess when that photo was taken?

WS11 were in short supply here in Canada and in June 1943 Ottawa requested from London that 200 WS11 sets be sent here for training purposes. I wonder if it's Canadian made or English.

Given the rubber tail light on the carrier (early), the 11 cab (I think) CMP FAT with 'Canadian' style markings on the door plus the denim battledress on the jeep(ish) driver, I bet Canada, around 1941. Then there's always the licence plate that says Ontario, 1941. I bet Petawawa or Borden. It's not certain, but the face of the 11 set in the ban-jeep-tam looks light. Canadian sets were green-faced, British ones black.
