The Bren is held by the front mount pin under the gas cylinder, and by friction at the rear of the mount, where a spring steel piece grips the receiver.

The mount hangs inside the front plate, to the right of the firing slot when not in use, or if a Vickers is fitted.

I think the Canadian mount is similar to the small cast mount that you see inside the front plate of a mid production LP2A as shown in Jeff Plowman's first NZ Armour book. There was a 'U' shaped piece of steel bolted inside the firing slot to narrow the opening for the Bren.

Default Brit carrier use.

I have seen this mount in use on Brit built carriers. Pic attached of early Bren Carrier.
