Default detail photos

here is some detail photos I took. The white square in some of the photos is 50mm square so you can scale off the photos. These are Fords except the last photo to show the Chev round vents and the Chev interior photos in the next post but the only difference is the round air vents of the Chev compared with the rectanglular ones of the Ford.

Thanks everibody for the precious help, I've downloaded the pdfs and the pics.
Cliff, a few minutes ago a friend of mine brought me a bunch of copies of old articles taken from scale model magazines often including 1/32 and 1/35 drawings 60Ls. I've also bought from Hubert Cance some 1/35 scale drawings of a ford 15A. I put the Tamiya cab against them and I noticed that:
  • it's quite smaller than the 1/32 sketch (Model World Sep 1973)
  • sometimes it perfectly matches the 1/35 drawings (Ciro models F60L - resin conversion, Converting a Quad - Military Modelling Jan & Feb 1977, MAFVA 2175 March 1999)
  • it's some 3mm wider than Mr. Cance's drawings
I'll check the pics that you've kindly posted (by the way when did you leave Imperial to switch to metric?) hoping to solve the issue.
Is the chassis drawing you posted from a C60L? If so I can spot some differences between it and the F60L I've found on this very Forum. Any chance to have a bigger scan (because enlarging it to scale will end up in a very poor quality image)?
So I think that the only point left open is the one concerining the body (or the bodies).
Thanks once more for your help!

The Tamiya body is different in many ways to the real thing I do remember that and it is more 1/32 then 1/35 and as you said it is wilder then it should be. Unless you have a real one to measure off it is impossible to tell if any of the drawings are 100% correct to scale. The Chev chassis is different to the Ford Chassis in a lot of ways especially in the rear engine/gearbox mounting area. You also have to know before you start building whether you want to have a winch in the Chev because not all Chev chassis had the winch mount and the winch itself was made by Ford for all models of CMP. The second scan is of a C30/C60S chassis with winch. The only difference between them is the length with is the difference between a 134inch wheelbase and the 158inch wheelbase of the C60L. The extra 24inches is added in just behind the cab. I do have bigger scans of the two chassis drawings so if you PM me your email address I will email them to you.

As to metric measurements we have used them for many decades as I was schooled in imperial measurements in New Zealand but worked as a carpenters apprentice at 17 in metric so I am fortunately able to work in both forms of measurements and do have a habit of using both in some conversations LOL!

Default 12 cab measurements

Found these measurements that I took off a wreck. These togeather with the photos with the 50mm white square in them are what I used to do my 11 cab F60L.

Floor length to bottom of angled panel under pedals……1075mm

Floor Width at hinges….1660mm

exterior Cowl width….1340mm

On Fords, the chassis dimensions are the same irrespective of the Cab fitted. In fact they have the holes pre-drilled to take either style cab (11/12 or 13).
The frame narrows between the rear of the front spring and the front mount of the step. The forward part of the frame measures 32 inches between the outside faces of the frame, and the rear part behind the step measures 34 inches between outside faces of the frame.

hope this helps
