Hello Dave,
There are two types of door frames used, Canadian type and of course the U.S. type, going by your picture you have the CDN modification done. You can see on the body side down by your foot area, a small flat plate with a short piece of pipe welded to it, then bolted with two 1/4 inch bolts. This is were the original verticle rod pocket was. The CDN door frame uses two CDN made brackets one bottom the other on the top. THE BIG DIFFERENCE in the CDN made door is there one piece welded frame ( I have two of these ) and has a deeper inside handle to go around the CDN roll bar. The U.S. type is kinda neat, It folds up to put it away for storage but can be wobbly while on the jeep and not very ridged. You also need with this type 2 verticle rods at the rear of the door to keep the door closed. I have both types so I could take a photo for you. I dont have spare CDN frames but I have new door skins as well as side curtians , If your intrested ?? I just have to find them ...... Like I mentioned I could send a few picture's your way. Thanks Paul, CDN M151a2 owner |

Sorry dave, kinda left you hanging with the answer to your question?
The CDN made one piece welded door frame pivots in that lower bracket on the the side of your jeep, you should have another one up top on the windshield frame- it looks kinda the same... The U.S. type slides down into a verticle pocket very near that lower bracket. It's a CDN modification, I like the one piece door frame my self, alot more rigid. I dont have any spare CDN door frames but you could try e-mailing Mark at ( markcos151@msn.com ) and see if he has anymore. I did purchase N.O.S. CDN frames from him Thanks Paul |

Thanks for the response, It makes a little more sense now. Paul I will take you up on your offer of the pictures of how it all comes together and I would be interested in the door skins and side curtains, Just PM me and I can give you my email address and we can discuss it further.

Hello Dave,
Here is a picture of the top door pivot, really all it is is some flat stock and a piece of pipe welded to it with a angle cut to fit the windshield. I just attached it to the top edge for your picture, you can see I have removed the CDN roll bar and mounted the original top rails which are secured on the rear wheel house. I did have the top and doors on during the spring but removed them for the summer. I did forgot somehow to take a picture of the rear rod for the curtian and the top rod that helps holds it all together. I'll do that monday..... If you need measurements of the top pivots let me know, can measure up for you. I'll keep you posted on the rest Cheers Paul |

Hi Dave,
I found some pictures I had taken some time ago, another fella in my town has a M151A2 that he brought up from the states. You can see how the U.S. ones use the roll bar as well as the canvas support rods. He has never insured it for the road and lets his grand kids drive it around on the farm. Thought some one might be intrested to see how the U.S. builds them... Paul |

Hi Dave, Thanks she's a fun buggy to drive around
Here's a few shots of the left door frame mounted, I'll PM you the measurments for the rods, but you can kind of see how it works from here. Because I removed the CDN roll bar I'm using the U.S. top system, but I also can use the CDN doors, I have other verticle curtain rods made due to the iniside door closer using the roll bar to keep the doors closed. As for the verticle curtain rod , it's 3/8 rod with a 12 inch long 1 inch wide flat bar welded to it. I ran out of room for pictures on this post so i'll put more on the next. There is also a horizontal rod from the windshield to curtian rod for door opening I have enough items to make it look U.S. or back to stock CDN , the fender mirrors I removed but have them still as well as the grill/screen guard. I did dig out a N.O.S. olive drab set of doors and curtains from when I purchased them last year, so i'll PM you on that idea if your intrested. Paul |
