What would be your choice?

I have a ferret, so the only other wheeled option is the Fox. I am a big lover of track, so if money wasn't an issue, it would be a centurion, scorpion or stinger. I know the toys you deal with, so what's the answer?

Dear Dan and the others that have responded.

I posed the question as a friend of mine is going through this process as he is afflicted with the British vehicle bug.

In short there is no answer as everyones tastes are different.

The Fox is an orphan for some parts and less supportable long term than a CVRT. Anything tracked needs to be floated long distances.

Owning track is a joy to blast around the back forty in if you have a staff to do all the grunt work, until you have split track dont even consider chiming in on that comment!

While others think the turreted CVRTs or CVR(T)s, if your being a rivet counter, are the best. Frankly as one who operates one of that variant I get and awful claustrophibic feeling even driving head out with that gas engine so close and the risk of fire so possible. Frankly getting in and out of a Spartan is a joy and simple even for a large lad like myself. The Spartan is easier to get the engine deck off rather than the twirling turret exercise, which one also has to done with the Fox.

I know that I am spoilt in having hydraulic assistance on site in the shape of a crane and a tractor loader so any of these bigger pieces require a certain depth of pockets that is beyond most people.

The Saxon which is in the same league as the Spartan as much as it is an APC is in my opinion a bit of a dog as the driver doesnt have a head out possibility for driving. It can be made to look as "sexy" in the same way as the Spartan by the addition of a barrel like assembly in the turret depending on your facist local laws (oh god watch the flames after that comment).

While we are waxing lyrical about legalities tracks can be driven on the road if you know how, but again thats another topic I would rather not delve into.

Yep, I've done a track or two, 15 years in the Canadian Amoured corps, and my body can attest to it. The problem now, correct me if I'm wrong, is importing the armoured vehicles.
I think the simplest vehicle to own is the ferret. Under 3900 kg, no special driver's permit required. Parts are available (except tires), runs fairly cheaply on fuel, and fits in the garage. What about a Pig? Saxon?

How's your old ferret doing anyhow? I finished the Land Rover 90 project, I'll post some pictures when I get a chance.
