Hi just to clear it up a bit the horn button is the same as a fork truck standard Lucas part, ive not found a starter button yet in any vehicle parts books how ever if i do i will let you know.

the master switch in an M8 armoured car is the same construction , if you open the rivets for holding it together , and remove the locking device , it wil be a push button again .and grind the turn strip of the button .

sorry guys, my mistake. i am sure if the horn button is "gettable" the starter one will be too, i will strip mine out see if i can locate a manufacturers serial number or something.

Here are a couple of pictures. Like Tony Smith says, " Boring without pictures"
The first is from the McDells carrier. Both are Lucas parts, the other being held together by 3 hollow rivets. The mounting screws, which hold it to the panel, pass through the rivets. The internals are common to a series one landrover, and a TEA fergy (gearlever start)If you have one which is a bit shakey, you could have it operate a remote solenoid( which does away with the need to run battery cables up to the dash)

Sorry,my bad, Chris/Greg. It will be Peter A's. Its the only start button I've seen like that, which doesnt mean its not common. I suspect its an early one.
