bakelite steering wheel help

Hi,
I have a rather sad looking steering wheel rim, stripped of all traces of the original bakelite finish, which I would like to restore it to its former glory. Does anyone know who can recoat a wheel (prefer USA / Can.) or have any suggestions? I was thinking of powdercoat if bakelite and etc. is not possible.

I have repaired old steering wheels by filling with plasti bond and sanding to shape. I then use a good quality automative black enamel paint. Apply in a even but not too thick coat and bake with heat lamps until dry to a light touch. This usualy takes about two hours repeat this about ten times and you have a glossy black steering wheel again.

Thanks for the suggestions. Powdercoating is now off the list as the internal anchor points for the spokes are wooden! and the 400 degree F oven would distress the wood too much. Looks like the beadblast, epoxy filler and black paint (urathane) win this round.
