Default how about photos of items

Hello Folks

It seems nobody knows where there are any items as there has not been any answers.

How about photos, Does anybody have photos of

4)Brush Guard 5820-21-849-3203 or
base assembly antenna 5820-21-849-3202. These were used with the MX-2799, opposed to the more common MX-6707 AMU.

With photos i might be able to get one of these made up.

Thanks

Eric

Check the sockets on your radio gear and see if they look like the cables in the photo below since they are from the period of your vehicles.

Those cables as well as some longer types used with the Number 19 sets in armoured vehicles and truck installations can be found at the following link. Not much left related to wireless from the items I've slowly been parting out.

Default looking for radio items

Hello Folks

I can remove some items from my list

I am still looking for these items.

1) vehicle battery cover (hyp-57) for the ky-57.

2) Installation Instructions and manual for the KY-38 and the KY-57

3)Brush Guard 5820-21-849-3203 or base assembly antenna 5820-21-849-3202. These were used with the MX-2799, opposed to the more common MX-6707 AMU. (Photos of same would also be appreciated)

I also have a Vinson KY-57 for trade for an Amplified Tray am-2060.

Thanks

Eric

I have a mountain of ex-CDN comms stuff thanks to some dumpster-diving of local Reserve units when TCCCS came in, but though I'm familiar with the MX-2799 'box base' AMU etc., I can't picture this 'brush guard' you're talking about. Have any pics? Usually they just mounted to the rear corner of either the M151A2 or M38A1 on the same 'utility bracket' you used to mount just about everything else - just without the bolt-in ring adapter you'd use with the MX-6707. IIRC the MX-2799 went bye-bye when we got the roll cages fitted to the M151A2s and double MX-6707s were fitted, but as with everything, "standard" was a word that just didn't apply.

Your KY-57 -- is that one of the demilled ones offered by American Milspec and a few others, or a more or less complete one? KY-38 units show up from time to time on Ebay with almost all their cards intact less the ones pulled during demil, and the last one went really cheap too (I was out of town or it wouldn't have!) but I know of nowhere you can buy one right now. My unit (744 Comm Regt.) still had KY-38 NESTOR stuff in stores as late as 2000. Even as a buck Pte. I knew that stuff was looooong obsolete and long overdue for a date with the C&E Museum.

If you're looking for mount brackets for the KY-38 they're are all over -- IIRC they're the same ones used for the KY-65s in GRC-106 setups and FAC racks like the GRC-206 on the U.S. side (EDIT: No, they're not the same! Just checked my own KY-65 mount and the KY-38 won't fit!), plus some outfits used them as 25/77 packset mounts on motorcycles and what have you. There's a great pic of an M151A2 in Gagetown c.1981 with the KY-38 installed on the radio box floating around on the web somewhere for reference purposes. I just went with the KY-57 setup on my own M151A2 CDN as I think Reg Force would've had them when the 151s were still in service. I know I never got to see one while I was in.

Default Ky-57, 38, radio brackets

Hello Andy

Rob Love thinks he has seen one of the brackets i am looking for and will keep me posted. I have teh instalation instructions but the photo copy of the photos is non existent. These are odd brackets.

Ky-38, yes i have one complete but with the battery box rather thna the vehicle power adapter.

I am looking for a KY-57 vehicle power adapter. I bought the KY-57 from the vendor who sold the lot to America Milspec. I still have one for sale with some of the cable and J box, or trade for a 2060 tray.

Still looking for CDN installation manual. I have the US operators manual.

Thanks

Eric

Don't want to hijack the thread or anything but I also need a couple of the KY-38 mounts (MT-3823/GRC) if anyone has extras after helping Eric out, plus another KY-38. I scored one real doggy KY-38 that'll be good enough for 20/20 vision (i.e., 20 mph and 20 feet away) but still need one for my second radio. I have KY-57 x 2 setup already but we don't seem to have adopted the KY-57s in wide use until 1987-88ish which would've been too late for the 151s.

Also, if anyone has or knows where I can get the KY-38 to RADIO cable (i.e. KY-38 to the RT-524 X-MODE connector), please advise. I can kitbash one out of cables designed for the PRC-41 but I'd sooner do it right.

Andy
