Yes, it was a thin web strap and buckle of the same fashion as the others on a carrier. It went through the little loop bracket on the back of the bracket and around the grease gun.

Any idea on how long it was? Or just long enough to go around the gun.

Just long enough. As with anything carrier, there will be just enough to do the job, and never too much. There was a war on, and adding extra inches unnecessarily onto a certain part over the production of thousands of machines was considered wastage.
