Engine in and most of cab on. Spent the afternoon with a mate getting the tray ‘plum’ and a bit welded together. Hope to work on it more this weekend.
Any comments on what Aussie timber to use on the truck decking – ran into an old farmer in town tonight and he said some trucks had bearers of ironbark but with Apple Gum floor boards in his day. More incline to stick to all Ironbark. Any ideas? |

Having a spot of trouble with where the end of the hand throttle cable attaches to the carter carby......anyone know or got a pic?

Got the tail gate sorted, plus some timber cut for the tray as well........bit slow on it all at the moment - work getting in the road of my project!!!......

Here is a pic of the hooks on C8AX #891
They have a hinged drop down section that locks them in place. Other trucks I've seen have a curved pin like the toolbox lockers. |

The Hand Throttle mystery is over! Have included two pictures for anyone who needs to know. Works for me.
The only part I am missing now is the radiator protector bar assembly for the Chev. Anyone got a plan for this? I understand the Fords were spring steel but the Chevs flat bar? If this is right I will make one myself, but if spring steel will get a spring shop to knock two up. |
