Hi Martyn.
I just measured my original smoke discharger. I can confirm the O/D is 4.5" and I/D 4" therefore wall thickness =1/4" However the length of mine is nearer 9.5"....oow err missus! Not sure what you mean about the nut? It's a nut with a hex on the back edge and heavy splined edge at the front for finger tightening. I can't remember what thread it is, but I can check if necc. I can also give dimensions of the nut if required. Have a look at the state of my mounting bracket. I think it came from a carrier in Pounds yard that the tide had been coming in and over for years. Ron a quick blast over to bare metal then skim the pitting with filler compound then flat back and she will look as good as new

Richard if you knew the amount of rusty and pitted metal I have dealt with over the years, you could be accused of teaching grandmother to suck eggs. For some reason at the time I felt I wanted to preserve the relic effect. I've changed my mind now I see it in a photo. I'll take it off soon and restore it properly

Hi Ron
Thanks for the measurements great help i see now the thread is a stright bit with a nut and a coller part on it i thort it was a double endded nut to screw into the discharger and the gun part but looking at your photos its not, easyer to make few lol My bracket is just about the same condition looks like its been in a box full of water for too many years i did think about making a new one but i like some original parts on her. |

See Stewart, I'm not sure such an item would be accepted by UK ebay? It took them a while to decide to accept a webbing holster I once sold.

For what its worth here below are two pictures of the 4 inch discharger bracket and the 2in. mortar mount. You can see that the 4in. mount has been pivoted down and is held by two bolts. The spare bolt is above the bracket. John.

Hi
I would think that both were not attached at the same time. I have seen factory pictures of both mounts on... but I have not seen one picture of both of them (4 inch and 2 inch)being mounted a carrier at the same time. It would appear to me that the 2" inch mortar replaced the 4" inch smoke discharger. And the simple fact that during the transition of early armour production some MKII* carriers had both holes drill into their armour. I would love to see a picture of both on at the same time. Cheers Adam |
