Ron a quick blast over to bare metal then skim the pitting with filler compound then flat back and she will look as good as new

Richard if you knew the amount of rusty and pitted metal I have dealt with over the years, you could be accused of teaching grandmother to suck eggs. For some reason at the time I felt I wanted to preserve the relic effect. I've changed my mind now I see it in a photo. I'll take it off soon and restore it properly

I have done the same with my dash pannel it is pitted i could have made it look new but want people to know its original rather than repro so left it pitted.
