Default Yep...at least two kind possibly 3....

Hi Phil

Early January 1941 shows only one model avaialble (cab11/12) 1525983.....
9" x 5 7/16

.late replaced by 1526795...listed in 1045 parts book.....same size as above...

....later replaced by 1543682..1 quart 8 3/4 x 6 11/32

....and of course two different type of Carter W 1 carbs.....
first type W -1 518S and 518SA

...second type.... called the "Dustproof Carb" W - 1 589S

Neither carbs are shown with a central long bolt that would hold the air filter.

Illustrations form the parts manual are useless as they were copies form civilian manuals with no attempt to show the military retro fit.....

More mysteries......
