Hi,
I've read somewhere that regularly when in service (but not while driving) the driver is meant to select each gear in turn and press and release the change pedal a surprising number of times which operates the adjuster for each band/speed selected. If you haven't got a manual then check the NET for 'Doug's Heavy Metal' website as he discusses this with some emphasis (can't always trust my memory). Thanks to Doug's site my Dad got our first Ferret's dizzy timed up and the motor running nicely (Thanks Doug! ![]() Regards Alex |

Hi Alex,
Your referring to what some call Pedal Up. Before starting each day its advisable to pump the gear change pedal at least 6 times in each gear to take up any slack in the automatic adjuster for each of the selected gear brake band. The adjusters take up any wear on the brake band. Its quite an interesting gearbox. When used correctly they work like a dream. I think the gearbox in this Ferret has been abused and the result is a worn out 1st and 2nd gear brake band. You do not use the gear change pedal like a clutch, as some often do. Cheers |
