Mike is indeed the man for colours. It is one very complex subject!

Default Olive ?

Just last week I had a small sample batch of spraying enamel made up to match the original green found in several places on the Scout Carrier.

It turned out to be an Australian standard colour, the details of which I can post up in the next day or so. I simply had the stuff made up with flattener to make it lustreless and also had some made up in aerosol cans because I was too lazy to keep mixing and thinning etc.

It's actually a truly awful shade of olive green but I am 100% certain it is the original correct factory finish for this particular vehicle.

The aerosol exercise turned out to be VERY expensive and I won't be doing that again in a hurry !

Cheers

Phill

Phill. mixing is easy buddy epecially if you use a measured mixing cup i am using a cromadex paint 222 fast air drying 10% matt finish, if it helps the nearest tint to 1940's light stone is a RAL code 1002 looks like chicken Korma when you put it on but it darkens off slightly when it drie's. its a bitch to spray with and takes very little thinners. if you use it you either need to set the gun to blow on a light film of paint and build it up or if your gun does not adjust you thin it so it just gets through otherwise when you turn around after doing the job you will have a floor full of paint and nothing left on the hull

Hanno has done a great review of Mikes books on here, so this is the link

http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4095

his books contain war time correspondence, orders, accounts and the all important swatches in the rear, including how the colours should be applied even to specific vehicles !
