photo taken off my original ww2 neg from 1940. can any one ID the sign on the Bedford looks like yellow blue yellow & L4164374 on the bedford & L181462 on the bonnet on its own = the German has the number 537 on his uniform shoulder strap with yellow around the edge.

This is the same bedford in the background with a close up of the german that is in the other photo that i have from my original colour negs collection. you can see the 537.

L181462 relates, according to the Chilwell lists, to a Ford Lorry, 1 ton 4x2 GS (V3593 - L181101 - L181600).
I wonder if the marking that we're looking at on the off-side wing is the yellow top corner over blue of the tactical marking for a Royal Artillery Survey Regiment with a white bar below indicating Army troops ? It's my best guess from thumbing through Hodges & Taylor anyway. |

Well, Rich, the top photo is a Chev and the bottom one is a Ford.
As to exactly which models they are, I am not sure but they are really interesting photos. Bill

Yes, top photo is a Chevrolet C15 by the look of it, and not in Allied hands!
