Well the pictures looked good anyway....

I have two bumpers to measure. The M38A1 CDN3 has a bumper that is 54" long. With the CDN2 parts Jeep was a front bumper 46" long. The last owner had a CDN1 in the yard, and this part may be his take-off replacement. It you are unhappy with the one you've got, take it as a sample to the local steel dealer. It looks like rather ordinary 4" U-channel, and the counterman should be able to find catalogue stock for you.

Unfortunately my current bumper is far from stock - it was custom made by whomever started (and never finished, thankfully) "bubbaing it up". I'm not too worried about being able to find/fabricate a new one, I just want to know the exact question you raise above - was the CDN2 stock bumper 46" or 54"?

Mike

OK, the 67 and 70 (and 71) CFRs would be 54" long. With minor exceptions, the CDN2 and 3's are alike. The 53 CFRs would be the 46" lengths.

Default Bumper length

I have both a 53 CDN and a 67 CDN2 jeep. The 53 jeep is 46 inches and the 67 is 54 inches.

That's what I thought, but the RCEME parts book has diagrams claiming to be of the CDN2 but showing the short bumper, and lists the same NSN for the CDN and CDN2 bumpers.

Now if only the &%$# that started to bubba mine up hadn't welded his new offroad bumper to the frame, I would be a happy man.

Thanks for everyone's input!

Thumbs up

HI. I am almost 100% sure that only m38a1 c.d.n1 had the short bumper.
