A little while ago I had the pleasure of seeing and going through the Mynarski Memorial Lancaster when it stopped here. What a great plane, still get goose bumps remembering the sound of those engines when it took off. A shame that there are not more on those great pieces of history flying today. Below I have a some photos I took of it, wanted to take more inside but the batteries in my camera died @#%^&**

Just saw it last weekend at the Abbotsford international airshow. several flyby's, at speed. low and slow bomb bay doors open. I'd seen it before in hamilton in the hanger but i went to the airshow this year specifically to see it in the air.

Yes she is a great old plane , everyone should see it. If you ever get the chance to see it make sure you do, you will enjoy every minute of it. For being a big plane it was tight quarters inside. Would have loved to have seen a couple hundred of those in the air at a time.

Periodically I am outside working on the lawn or on the Jeep and I hear the Merlins of the Vintage Wings museum's Spitfire, Mustang, Hurricane (and if it is a good day, their Corsair's big old radial!).

I have seen the Lancaster Nanton AB and was surprised to see how small it looked inside .I have to my knolage the only 1942 Fordson N tractor left that hauld feul and bombs to the Lancasters and Halifaxes .I am making a trailer for it to haul bombs and hope to take it to the Lancaster next time it comes out west .I am using 100 LB propane bottles for bombs and welding fins on the back end .Cant think of anything else that would be close to one .There is a trailer in Scotland for sale but it would cost a fortune to get it here .I also have a fuel tender for this Tractor .After the war I wanted to buy a Lancaster but my Dad said "NO" ,I still think he was wrong

I have welded on alot of fuel tanks but I am wondering if you fill it with water will it take out the propane that is left in the empty bottle .The other thing is that after I make these will there still be some propane in the rust that can come out and cause an explosion You can get an old bottle for nothing but a new one cost $ 350 .Maybe a little more reserch is needed for this one .When this bottle takes off I'll let you know so you can run for cover ha ha.

At the Nanton, Alberta museum, a tall old dude was climbing into the Lanc and banged his head on the top of the door. Smiling as he rubbed the sore spot, he said, "I flew these things for two years, and banged my noggin every time I climbed aboard. It hurts more without hair!"
BTW, Hi George from the Pope boys! We have welded lots of propane tanks to make air tanks out of them. Fill 'em with water, takes all the "pop" out of 'em!
