The tread started by Robert Pearce “Meet the Family” got me thinking that I would post some family photos also. However, with the kids all grown up, it seldom happens that the family is all together in the same place at the same time, and it is all but impossible to get a family photo. So I am posting some old family photos of my parent’s families.

The first is my father’s family taken about 1908. My father is the baby on his mother’s knee with my aunt May, uncle Duncan and my grandparents Peter and Ellen.

The second photo is my mother’s family from around 1918. My mother is the baby of the family with my grandparents Thomas and Cordelia, and my aunts Christine (Tina), Regina, Alice, Theresa, and Fabiola; and my uncles Rosario and Joseph. My mother’s oldest sister Anne-Rose died in 1918 at age 16 sometime before the photo was taken.

Default Algonquin Ancestor

On my mother’s side I have an Algonquin ancestor Marie Miteouamigoukoue, my 8 X great grandmother.
She was born about 1631 and was baptized on 6 Nov 1650 in Montréal. She married Pierre COUC dit LAFLEUR on 16 Apr 1657 in Trois-Rivières. She was buried on 8 Jan 1699 in Trois-Rivières.

The house built in 1721 by my 6 X Great Grandparents Josiah Rising and Abigail Nims in Oka Quebec, was one of the locations used on the filming of the movie “X-Men Apocalypse.” Magneto’s house in Poland was in fact my ancestor’s home in Oka.

I was also able to trace Abigail Nims lineage back to 13th century England. One surprise is that I am related to William Stoughton who in 1692 was lieutenant governor of Massachusetts and Chief Magistrate and prosecutor for the Salem witch trials. William Stoughton was the first cousin of my 8 X great grandfather William Smead jr. (Abigail’s grandfather), making him my first cousin ten times removed. William Stoughton and William Smead jr. share the same grandparents the Reverend Thomas Stoughton and Katherine Evelyn Montpeson (my 10 X great grandparents.)
