Winch what winch? It will be a 30cwt which had a shorter wheelbase then the 3 ton long WB models as most of these real early one's were only 30cwt models.

If you look a bit closer the chassis does have winch mounts, and also reinforcing on the chassis for same, may well be a postwar sawmill refit or not ?

Certainly worth preserving the blitz whatever it's identity turns out to be.

Hi Colin,

"Blitz" means lightning and "Blitzkrieg" means "lightning war" in German. Through constant motion, the blitzkrieg attempts to keep its enemy off-balance, making it difficult to respond effectively at any given point before the front has already moved on.

Now, can you tell me why the Australians call the CMP a Blitz truck?

Blitz - Lightning, as in 'blitzkrieg', or 'lightning war'

The term 'blitz buggy' was more universal earlier in the war being applied to vehicles other than CMPs, which were initially called 'desert blitz' among other names.
