F15 diff swap

I have, in the past, fitted a thermostatically controlled electric fan with much success in the noise department but not so good for cooling, so back to the fan which does a great job.
Like I said I can put up with the fan noise, I would just love another gear, like having overdrive and be able to cruise at about 40-45 mph and enjoy the ride, I think 20" wheels would probably be the ideal soution, now, anybody got a spare set in the UK?, what other vehicle wheels will fit? Morris? Bedford?

I, too, am looking at stretching the legs of the old girl...
I believe that the white scout car centres will fit... but not without a lot of work. From what I have been told, it all sounds a bit hard.
I have obtained a diff out of a jailbar, time will tell if it fits, also if the ratio is more favorable!

white scout car diff, wonder how much one of these costs? would you need the pinion aswell? sounds like it will not be a straight drop in job.
I think I will go with the bigger wheels for now, don't like to modify my vehicles too much, just bought a GPW with a BMC diesel in it, that's gone without my even hearing it run!
So anyone in the UK got a set of 20" rims for sale? I have heard the phrase "war department wheels", does this mean wheels from different vehicles will interchange? will a wheel from a war time bedford fit my Ford? may be easier to track down a set from them, Regards, Gareth.

Hi All

Do any of our members have a Ford Master Truck Parts Book from the 1940s maybe we could find which years the differential carrier is the same as used on CMPs. Then the leap to what other gear ratio were available.

I have the Mapleleaf Chevy master parts book as well as the US Chevy master parts book and they have help me find what a CMP part might cross over to a civilian truck.

You get sort of tired of walking into a parts store telling them what you have and their response is "you want parts for a what?" then they start laughing.
