Hi all - gee you guys are doing it hard. Why don't you just have a mold made as I did, then there would be no need of machining etc.

Well done at all the work puting this together. When I restored my carrier I had some of my wheels re rubbered by a company up here in Fife who did conveyor belt and agricultural wheel rerubbering. The burnt the rubber off the wheels (unfortunately they threw away the bearings etc), stuck layers of rubber on to the depth I specified for road and idler wheels, fitted them to a lathe and programmed in the profile and pressed the button. The wheel spun, and hey presto the profile was trimmed. I've had them on my carrier since then, and although I don't do as much mileage as some of the guys, I do a reasonable amount cross country and off the roads around where I live and there has been no deterioration or separation at all. That was nearly 15 years ago! The cost was £25 per wheel then for 4, so your price is good. The one draw back is they are too new compared to the ones I didn't rerubber, still I suppose that was what might have happened. Nigel
