I have a box of 50 or 100 of some vintage thumbscrews that are identical to the Canadian lower panel retainers except for two things:
1: They are course thread instead of BSF (not a big deal, either the screws or the holes could be chased out to match the other)
2: They do not have the small collar between the thumbscrew and the thread, but this can be added on.

Despite these two shortcomings, the actual thumbscrew portion appears to be the same cast in all respects. When I get home in July I can provide more information and perhaps a couple of photos.

They aren't going anywhere for the time being. As I said, I am overseas until July, and even then I'll only be home for a few weeks and then back to KAF. I may not be home until December after that.
