Default My ANZAC Day in Melbourne

Hi all,
well on the 25 Apr it was ANZAC Day in Melbourne, I took in my Dodge Command Car and there were a couple of other Dodges, some Landrovers and quite a few Jeeps. The morning started off very foggy and cold, but the sun did come out and it was an excellent day. I managed 2 trips down the parade route with old diggers (veterans) in the back waving to people and thier friends.
I had one old Polish veteran come up to me and confirm that my vehicle was a Dodge Command Car, he then went on to tell me that he drove them through Europe during the war and that he preffered to drive the 6x6 Dodge as it would stop in the snow and ice. The little 4x4s would jump/bounce and skip across the ground- too rought!
I also had the son of a US veteran come up to me and he said that he had never actually seen a Dodge Command Car and that his father was a supply officer in a supply company in an Artillery Regt in Patton's 3rd Army and his dad used to sleep across the front seat of the Command Car.
All very interesting.

Default Batemans Bay

Drove my truck from Ganmain to Batemans Bay for Anzac Day.

Not far....about 10 hours by Blitz with a very hospitable stopover at Yass which happens to be the halfway point in the journey.

Took my Grandfather (who is a 21st light horse veteran of WW2) in the parade.

This is the second year Ive been able to do this. A very lucky and fortunate moment for me.

Good way for the old girl to get the acid test as well.

Jim!

Excellent to see that badge on a proper army truck on a day like that.

Thanks,
Hanno

PS: if one looks closely, one can see the KTR badge on Jim's Chevrolet grill in the picture below:
