Hello everyone (15 cwt CMP thread)
Hi everyone, Due to limited (NO) space and an extensive slate of restoration project I am forced to part with my 1944 15 cwt CMP. It located in Fredericton (Ormocto) New Brunswick and is for sale. Hi Jason
Welcome to the world wide club that is MLU, You have come to the right place to talk CMP’s, looking at the photo of your 13 cab 15cwt it looks like a good starting point for restoration, what are you in need of? Is it a Ford or a Chevrolet? Is there any history and or data plates?, is it a 15 or a 15A? Regards Pete ![]() |

Hi Guys,
Well I see this is a Commonwealth affair with myself in Canada and you guys in England and Austrailia. Good stuff. Good stuff. I plan to visit both England and Austrailia within the next few years. My truck is a Chev, but I'm not sure if it is a 15 or 15A ? Can you please tell me what is the difference is? A buddy of mine noticed that the chaisis has an extra cross member like the gun tractor chasis, which is very odd.. However, as far as I know this truck was originally a signals truck with a hard top box (aka tray), not the canvass tarp with bows. As for what I need... the truck still runs which is good, but to start I need the following: 1. The brace that is underneath the fender to support it. 2. Dash board with Chev emblem 3. both seats 4. 2 butt stock holders 5. All the windows and roof assembly 6. Roof hatch cover (not sure if it should be round with canvass) or square hardtop hatch? ) 6. Chev bonnet emblem 7. Running boards 8. Spare tire holder 9. Rear Tray (aka flatbed, box, dump etc) 10. Bows and canvass tarp cover. 11. ....and probablly much more stuff that I am not aware of yet. I am thinking of getting parts shipped here to Canada from Austrailia or Europe ? What do you guys think ? Any idea of who I can contact for parts, or what shipping costs might be ? Cheers

It's a C15A. The C15 was the 4X2 version. As for the extra cross member, all Chevs I've seen here have the winch cross member. Fords do not, unless they were originally equipped with a winch. As the Chev cabs built here are unique to Australian production you're better off sourcing those parts elsewhere. The other alternative is to come here and buy a complete truck!

Just went back and saw your location.. Bill Mullholland is a CMP mechanical genious in Gagetown and Mike McKinley out of Maces Bay NB is great too..There are others.. They will jump in eventually and get into the fray...They just have to sober up from Canada Day..

Actually, I already knew Mike, and I just meet Bill last week. You are right Bill knows CMP's inside and out. His Diamond T wrecker is unbelieveable !! Thanks again for the leads. For just one day everybody within MLU have been super, lots of tips, leads and advice. Its all good. Cheers Jason

A. Hi Bob, Unfortunately my truck is void of instruments. ie. Currently there is only a switch to start it and no key hole. Is this panel shown the one that I need? Cheers
B. Hi David, Unfortunately the data plates on the door are missing, but there is one on the doghouse. However, it is not legible as it is scratched. Any tips on what I can do to read it? Cheers C. Hi Jason, I believe Mike McKinley mentioned something about your truck to me a while back. I may be able to help you with some of your " wants" list. Just so you are aware we still have tons of CMP's in Canada and there are a few people still selling NOS parts here as well. Many of the drivetrain items( seals, bearings etc...), brake parts etc.. are all still available from NAPA as well. Looks like you have a great start from the picture you have posted. Do you need a complete dash , or just the gauges?? You either have a huge "void" above the steering column, or a sheet metal dash with alot of empty holes where the gauges should be?? As well the data plates on you truck would be found on top of the dash not on the door as Fords would have.
Consider yourself very fortunate to have Bill M. nearby with all his years of MV mechanics. And watch that Mike McKinley guy, he can create an awful hangover the morning after !!! ![]() Jeff |

Now that I'm an uncle to the newest member of the NB CMP family(the truck, not Jason), I have been given the pleasure of boarding it at the Burton LAD. Yes, It's a late production, the dash is fairly complete with round guages, plus it has 3 of 4 slinging attachments on the hubs. The steering wheel is wooden and in great shape, well worthy of a good sand and varnish. The sheet metal is rough but savable for the most part. It has been "rode hard and put away wet" for a number of years, but has not yet become terminal. At a best "guesstimate" it should be on the road in a couple of years. Jason is a very proud new father, and will ensure that the Chev will be well raised and given the best of care.
