Default F15 + CS8 in Italian service

Another couple of Afrika shots from eBay.de

Great find, Rich, thanks.

Part of the photo has been published in Squadron/Signal's "Italian Truck-Mounted Artillery" by well-known Italian specialist Nicola Pignato with the inscription :

"A front view of the F15 with the Breda Model 39. Two ammunition boxes are placed near the spare tire, behind the driver's position. The commander is a sergeant. The weapon posed a danger to Allied aircraft below 2,000 meters (about 6,700 feet)."

You can find additional info on the bottom of my site :
www.o5m6.de/wehrmacht/2cm_Breda.html

The truck folowing the F15 is a captured Morris CS8 15-cwt with an Italian Autocannone da 65/17 mounted onto the truck bed. The Italian Regio Esercito had some 30+ vehicles in service in 1942.

-Oliver.

The Italian photo is an official German agency one from the look of it. My apologies for not showing the reverse.

... hmm, not really, Mike.

It says: "Geb. Rgt. 98. Britische Beutewagen Morris sind viel besser als unsere."

Translation: "Mountain Regiment 98. British captured Morris cars are much more better than ours."

BTT with an interesting photo found on Axis History Forum > Axis Equipment > The Ron Klages Panzers & other vehicles> Soft Skin Vehicle Photo Repository. On the left on the picture below we see a Canadian Ford F15 4x2 with Cab no.11, many of which were captured in France, the Balkan and Africa in the early stages of the war.

This one is definitely an Umbauwagen as the rear cargo body seems to be replaced by one with higher sides, an open front or side access, possibly to let soldiers (dis)mount. The fixed cab roof was also replaced by an integral canvas cover over the driver's area plus the rear body. Trafficators were added and the headlights have been replaced by "civilian" units. The front bumper is missing. Wish we could see more of this truck....
