Default Need your advice......

Who would you recommend as a "good" machine shop in and around Ottawa that can examine, measure, assess a Chev 6 cyl engine....fully disassembled... to determine if the engine is worthwhile rebuilding.

In the East end, we used to have "Engine Extra" on Star Top road..... Bob the manager had a very good reputation with the Hot Rod community and antique farm tractor collectors.... but like anyone else doing a good job..... they went belly up.....

Do we have any one else that can machine engine parts..... for low volume hobbiest..?

I am told that the few shops that will tackle such a project usually send the blocks to Montreal or TO for disassembly, parts washing, ect. since the environmental restrictions has made it impossible to justify the dipping tanks.

Similarly very few shop in town have sufficeint volume to justify keeping tradesmen and equipment to turn, regrind and micro polish a crank.... so they go by trucks out of town.
