Hello My Naylor, I am pretty sure the gentleman at the very far right of you picture in front of the tank is my grandfather, Gordon Wilbur Graham, he was a Sergeant with this group. His nickname was Doc. He also rode motorcycle for this group, he was wounded on August 14th at Falaise Gap. Do these reunions still occur? He attended regularly up to the time he passed. I would love to attend if these still happen.
Kindest Regards, Dave Schefter |

Hi Dave:
I have an electronic copy of the 23rd Field Regiment's War Diary. Sgt. Gordon W. Graham is shown on page 78 of the Diary on a wounded list. Do you want me to email you the diary? Cheryl Last edited by Cheryl England; 23-11-11 at 13:37. Reason: security - deleting email address |

The following pictures are from a Facebook posting. Alex Strehl from Stockholm, Sweden is restoring a CDLV-242 Jeep. He discovered the following markings under the paint. It was marked for 23rd Fld Regt, Signals Section with a tactical marking of S6.

Here is hoping that the original markings are preserved and not blasted off, this car and its markings would be a great project to remove the outer layer(s) of red civilian paint and get down to the original service paint. It may look "shabby" to some but I would say it would make it WAY more interesting then a couple coats of pristine new applied 319.

I am with James on this as there is a growing movement now to save examples like these original 80 year-old markings rather than paint them over.
