Yes, Rick, interesting quantity of them: the type and its para-container was listed on the SRD equipment directory as a special issue item (along with submersible canoes and other such rarities), but I've not found them referred to in any other Australian documents, or referred to in any of the SRD Ops reports as being used operationally.

Have to wonder why they were purchased, given the environment of clandestine ops in SWPA. Can't quite envision a steely eyed commando put-put putting along a rough and steep jungle footpath on a Welbike!

Default Srd

Talking of the SRD .I had a little clandestine radio years ago, the tin box it was in had 'SRD MELB' hand painted on the lid .... dont have it anymore

THE SRD was our version of the SOE ..sort of
