YES I agree . The 8 cwt truck version looks to be different to the carrier base .

All we can do is go by the photos . I doubt if an original truck type exists anywhere . This is an area of some confusion and more research is required

Ron , I have a coulpe of lathes . Machining is no problem . can you give an approx. cost of your casting ?

Also, there were two types of antenna rods in use . 5/8 " and 7/8 " from memory.

I do also have an original insulator of the type you are talking about (the 5/8" aerial) What I am lacking are both of toothed bits of brass work brass work.
The UC brass toothed base is made with two sets of mount holes.
My Mushroom is flatter at the top with a bigger dia. base than yours. Mine suggests the spring attachment is part of the brass toothed base.
I will post a picture in the next few days.
Has anyone got the watershed?

Thanks for your response Mike and Lynn.
Mike I have no idea yet about foundry costs. Judging by stuff I had done years ago, I would hazard a guess at £60-£70 each. But hopefully I will phone someone today. There can't be many of us who need this actual truck base? Me, you and Rory.......Anyone else? What we need is a better picture Mike.
Of course the casting can be machined into a copy of the carrier item, but Kevin should be able to care of them. Ron

Thanks Lyn. A much shallower dome than the one I am going to use. Ron

Default insulator

I've got the same type of insulator that Lynn has . It's part of the ground base setup. The brass cup sits on a spike, you push it into the ground .

Is yours the ground base Lynn ?

I think this is the truck mount. I got this pic off Bruce Parker some time ago. He likely still has it.
