Michael
I will keep my eyes open for you. A M38A1 is a relatively simple project and reasonably priced. There are several variants available from the 1952 model, the 1967 (CDN2) and 1970 model (CDN3).
I have seen several listed on Kijiji over the past year anywhere from $1500 and up, average being around $3000 for a project.
Lots of parts availability, good roads speeds and fairly straight foreward to work on.
M37s are similar with lots of parts around just a little harder to find a decent body and they take up some extra garage space.

Seconds on Kijiji. There are some guys who post their vehicles repeatedly, and wonder why no one pays top of the market. If you are worried about the price, give the seller a $100 refundable deposit and ask him to hold it for a week while you get a second opinion. Ask the collective wisdom what it/we think. If the guy is overpriced, you'll hear it!

I agree Terry. A $100 non-refundable deposit is cheap insurance from buying a total pile of s@#t...
I am suprised sometimes the amount of money some guys will shell out sight unseen without even making any attempt to check it out personally or even haqve someone locally look at it. We have enough members here on MLU from coast to coast that have some good advice to give. I for will gladly look at a veh and pass on my two cents worth. I have bought junk and I have bought great. It took a while to figure out how the game plays but now I feel qualified to be able to judge by asking the right questions and getting good pics. I have bought sight unseen and been very pleased with the end result as well. It just takes time to become educated.

I am thankful for the strong positive and helpful attitude from the membership of this wonderful forum!.

some great points and wisdom being shared by all.

I agree that I need to get more educated and familiar with prices and vehicles. I have some of those skills acquired from buying my tractors but that is because I know those inside out MV's not a whole bunch yet

what I have learned is that I actually turned down or didnt act fast enough on some past deals which were actually fantastically priced, but live and learn!

schools wrapping up in a week and I hope soon enough I can meet some of you and get some knowledge on these vehicles.

One of the best avenues to check out is to pay a visit to the Ontario Regt Museum in Oshawa or even better, come out to an OMVA Summer show. Lots to look at up close and lots of collectors types to talk with.
