I think your right Ron. The end opposite the bends is pointed like a conventional crowbar and the bent end is somewhat different to what is on the track tool. Looking at it in the calm light of day I imagine that it is for manoeuvring heavy machinery into place.

Thanks for the offer Howard but I'm convinced now that I was barking up the wrong tree. I will certainly ask for assistance if I have any photos worth posting in future.
