One name I have seen for them is dowel washers, I've also seen them called split cones. The link below may be the thread Phil is remembering.....

The Timken axle assemblies used on the Studebaker US6 have these split cones and I have always known them as 'collets'.

I would imagine that the split diff (Timken again) CCKW would also use them.

They were used by FOrd (and others) into the 70s on the Dana 60 rear axles. One of the terns is wedge washer, another is cone or conical washer.

The dayton part number is 334-710 I believe.

They are still used today on the FW hub units on the likes of a Toyota Hilux.(smaller) Kevin are your cmp ones the same as your carrier ones?
