As far as I know they are all interchangeable, the CMP ones have taps at the bottom and the lower outlets are in line with the water pumps (unlike Carrier radiators for example). Yours looks like a CMP one. The Cab 13 radiator should fit although the sheet metal shrouds are different.

The seats have a sprung base - which is far superior to foam which is most commonly used in restorations. These are not easy to find though.

Smile radiators

I think the 13 radiators are slightly different
I have fitted 2 different radiators from 13 cabs to my 12, but the lower hoses don't line up with the water pumps. They can be made to fit, but not without a lot of swearing.
The shroud is also different allowing for a cross bar to be inserted through the upper part of the shroud.

But the relative positions of the radiator mounts to the water pumps was unchanged between cab 12 and 13. It's not uncommon to see cab 12s and 13s retrofitted with truck or carrier radiators where they don't line up. I've had to fit the wrong ones myself sometimes and if you fit the hoses first then push the radiator down into position before tightening the clamps they work OK.

Hi all, im still not sure what to do about the radiator I would also like to know what colour the gear box and motor would have been when the truck was made, mine seems to be blue and red on top of the gear box(I thought red was caution)photos are above. I am going to leave the "bars" that run from the top of the cab onto the guards, reason being i found a photo with Aussie troops standing near the tuck which had this done to it. Will be picking up some more parts on thursday from the crash shop and will put up photos, also if anyone has the webbing that goes between the panels i would like to buy a roll if i could and the adhesive to put it on with. Could anyone with a cab 12 please put up a photo of the engine cover mine seems to be made of 3 parts . Im also missing side mirrors drivers side and the free ride side if someone has any parts for sale.

Tony Baker your paint job on your truck leaves mine for dead, wow mate you have done so much to your truck it makes me feel that i have years to go on this project Who did your seats mate they look great.

Default Colours

On any original ones I have seen they are painted the same colour as the vehicle, often over a black undercoat, although I have some original new old stock parts which don't have even the black under them.

Thanks Keith.

I was told the cab 12 was painted portland stone when it was sent to the middle east or while she was posted there, but was she painted army green on the production line. So does that mean the motor was army green even after it was sent to the middle east?

Default Engine Covers

Shane,

In answer to your engine covers they do indeed come as three seperate pieces. Two side covers and one that goes over the engine oil filler and gear stick.

I have gone right through my photo's cant find a single one of the engine covers.

Found one without them of course...

Ah, so what you are suggesting is that the two #13 radiators I have may be in fact non-cmp truck radiators?
It was years ago that I removed the radiator from Jo's 13, but I am sure that the bottom hoses were OK for alignment in the 13, but not in my 12.
Hmmm... I'll have to check!
Shane, Sorry for hijacking this thread... but it will be good to have an answer!
Cheers, H

Default Difference

H, the only difference between a cab 12 and cab 13 chassis are the brake and clutch pedals and the fact it has two front cab mounts. The radiator and engine mounts are identical.

No need to check Howard, the chassis are identical, ipso facto the bottom hose alignment is identical.

You may have a carrier radiator, they turn up in CMPs sometimes. My cab 13 F60L from Ian Styles has acquired one at some stage. They have stepped down bottom outlets which result in a kinked bottom hose when fitted to CMPs, as seen in pic 1. You may not have noticed when removing it but you can't help but notice when trying to refit one!

It's possible some commercial trucks had this type of bottom outlet too, however you can identify a carrier radiator by the union in the overflow pipe, as seen in pics 2 & 3.
