Here is a photo of a regimental commander’s vehicle from an artillery regiment of 1st Canadian Infantry Division in Italy. Note that it is not a jeep. The CO of artillery regiments were always forward with the HQ of the Infantry Brigade they were supporting, along with their signallers and arty techs.
Note that when 3rd Division landed in Normandy they were organized as an SP regiment. Therefore the CO's vehicle was an OP Tank.
