It is a nice truck, and fully restored as far as I know. I cannot give you a valuation as you know "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and "an object is worth what a fool will pay". Now let me state for the record this truck is a beaut and you are no fool! ![]() If you study the threads and pictures on this forum, you will notice relatively few Cab 11 and Cab 12 CMPs were used in NW Europe, and 8-cwt trucks were no longer used by frontline units. So chances this type of CMP was used in NW Europe are very slim. That's possibly why the owner painted it Light Stone, as the 8-cwt class of vehicle was extensively used during the desert war. In my opinion, if you paint over the Allied invasion star, one will have a very good representation of what this type of truck looked like during WW2. Plus it makes a nice change in seeing mainly olive drab vehicles at shows! HTH, Hanno

Some short boxed trucks seemed to have been modified by streching the short box......there it is.....the "lengthened short box", As far as I know it's still not sure when this was done, why or by whom. Fact is that a number of trucks with these lengthened trucks survive in Canada. The lockers between box and cab were scrapped and fuel tanks moved to the sides of the frame rails. I think the current consensus is that the conversion was done by the army when the Wireless trucks became obsolete (15cwt's took over the wireless role) They lengthened the box for cargo use and to stretch the service life of the 8cwt's. So far I haven't seen any pics of these lenthened boxes in action in N-Africa or NWE which leads me to believe the conversion was done in the second half of WW2 for homeland use in Canada, but I have no evidence to back this up. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ght=lengthened http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8147 Alex

As this F8 is a Cab 12, it could originally have been fitted with the "long box", right? For me the question now is whether the replica box on the truck was copied from a "lengthened short box" or a "long box"? Regards, Hanno
