Kevin, I have one already. Ben has it at the moment. I also have that picture in the front of the U.C workshop instruction book (Chillwell 63/63)
Kevin; Yes the AOP MkIIIW is a U.C. BTW.thank you for the offer. ![]() Richard: that cut out may have been to clear the frame of a riveted hull (and so may be for earlier AOPs. Nigel Wards AOP MkII might be like these? Ben; yes it does come down lower, but only by about 20mm. I think the manufacturers had a modicum of user friendliness in mind, by putting the oil pressure gauge, and temperature gauge in front of the driver.(the things you need to watch) Because the individual switches had been eliminated, the CAV switch was raised a bit. With the smaller ammeter under it there was room for the start button, without the flimsy, awkward to make, under slung extention. A production improvement?( The things you tend to only check once) that the British adopted, while the Canadians continued with their current production. I'm sure there would be more to this. My dash has four CAV type fibre fuses in a block while the earlier carriers had only 1 fuse in a separate fuse box. The early carriers having the extra c/sunk holes in the front armour to take the mounting screws for it.

The first three from Brad Mills having been posted on here before, but I felt it would be good to have them in this thread.
The oil pressure gauge is Canadian, while the Lucas start button is Pre Universal British carrier.

A few more bits. The round bakelite switch in the last picture was used in a few applications.
1. Std start button. 2.British speedo 3. Two switches from Dirk Leegwaters shop. Note the extra position on the British switch. 4. The trouble light dash socket. 5. I think this was the original change over switch for the tail light / black out light, on British carriers. (the switch at the back) As it is the 11th day of the 11th month ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thought I would add a couple of pics for reference, first 2 pics of British switch.
Third pic of Brit amp gauge I believe and early Canadian gauge below. Fourth pic of the dash lights , top one standard Brit , second one down early Brit, would this be scout carrier, etc?? , third one is Canadian.

O.k Andrew. C.H. Is Cole Hersey. (I don't actually have any)
The switches shown are available (in the on line catalogue) under two part numbers. M493 and 5507. One is Chrome, the other Nickel plated. You pick! I think these would go close to the CMP switches (different I know) but as a set they would look not bad. There is no 3 position switch for a fuel gauge switch though. The Canadian switch you have shown does not come up in their catalogue although very similar ones are there. Does anyone have any spare British switches? (as per Andrews picture)
