Imagine how much someone might have paid on something like ebay based on the pre-crush photos.
Who says they were in a bad shape? Some people would have no problem with letting as-good-as-new Iltis jeeps be crushed, simply because they truly dislike the type of vehicle

The third photo presumably shows these vehicles before they were dressed up. It looks like some pretty severe cancer in the bodies.

my experience with movies is that they care not one iota for rare vehicles..or fully restored immaculate rare....
they are props..and to them if a $50 thousand vehicle needs to be destroyed, so be it...while thats a big amount to collectors...its peanuts to a film with a 150-million budget. and where just the promotion runs into several dozens of millions more.

I can't begin to imagine the number of beautiful, rare, vehicles, planes, boats, destroyed forever by Hollywood

Frankly even a rust bucket has usable parts to keep others running --unlike M series jeeps where you can actually build a jeep from the ground up with repro parts... iltis parts are rare and getting rarer...
and its a shame these four were wrecked.
